Help Me Help Mary (and make her birthday awesome)

Hello everyone! This is my first post and sorry it’s such an odd introduction. I haven’t been on the forums at all yet because I realized really late that there are forums and badges and things. I promise a full introduction later!

My purpose here in this post is you ask for help from all of you. As you may have noted on the blog, today is Mary’s birthday. Huzzah for that! What Mary has not told you (on the blog, at least) is that a few days ago she lost all of her favorite fountain pens while en route somewhere. This is doubly tragic because it happens during letter month and right before her birthday. Cruel universe!

As her friend, I decided that this shall not stand. So I set in motion a brilliant plan to replenish her pens post haste. First, I sneakily got Mary to tell me the name of all the pens that she lost. Then I tried to find said pens on Amazon. Then I made an Amazon wish list with all of the ones I could find. I’m now inviting folks to said wish list to buy the pens for her as a gift if you are inclined to do so.

She will only be at the Chattanooga address associated with this list until around the 16th. If you plan to send her one, please make sure the shipping time is before then.

Also, there are only a few pens left on that list because some of Mary’s friends were already in on this scheme earlier today. (I surprised her. There were tears of joy.) However, there is one pen that is NOT on the list, and that one I could really use your help with.

Mary had a Wahl Eversharp Bantam vintage fountain pen amongst those she lost. I’ve found a couple of dealers that have them, but the price is over $200. If all the pens on the wish list are gone, would you consider donating five or ten dollars toward buying another vintage Wahl? It would mean a lot! And I think Mary might even get teary again.

To do so, send money via PayPal using this gmail address: kimberley.bradford. (It may show up as “Fluid Artist”)

If you send money this way, please be sure in the Send Money window to click the “Personal” tab, not the “Purchase” tab and choose Gift as the option. I have a business PayPal, so doing it this way ensures all the money you donate goes to the account and not to fees.

If you don’t have PayPal or don’t have money in your account, I can set up a way for you to donate using a credit/debit card. Message me if this is necessary.

Once we get enough I’ll post here and let you all know. But if there’s any extra money I’ll put it toward a gift certificate to a pen website so Mary can buy inks and such to feed her pen habit.

Please send me a message if you buy a pen from the wish list so I can let Mary know. I’m sure she will want to send thank yous. If you donate via PayPal but want to remain anonymous, tell me so in the note.

In advance: thank you to everyone who can donate. I know you, of all folks, will appreciate how devastating losing all your favorite pens can be. At least this way we can ease that pain and make this a great birthday week.
